Brilliant animation about work, salary and motivation

This outstanding RSA animation talks about why more money isn't always the best motivator.

Any manager or company owner should watch it and learn. It ought to be common managerial knowledge today, but I'm afraid it isn't.

Well said and animated. A purpose driven company that provides autonomy to its employees that have a desire for self mastery sounds idyllic, but it is already a reality in certain companies across the world. To apply this in our own lives would be the first step toward reaching that goal.

Thanks guys - click through to the RSA channel on YouTube. Really awesome presentation format for the web.

@derek Yes, I've been fortunate to be part of such a company too, but also tried the opposite. The only way to manage complexity is to 'let it run' wild (in a good way).

While counterintuitive, it makes perfect sense. Individual motivation to excel seems a better indicator of success once you go cognitive. How to judge who has that and who doesn't is also a valuable skill.

Great animation. Makes you think about how wrong old school management can be.
